Structural Virology

With resolutions (FWHM) up to 100x, size ranges from 20-120 nm, and gentle treatments,  NanoRanger offers unprecedented ability to characterize VLPs in their native state.  Are capsids complete? Are protein envelopes in place? Are anti-bodies attached? These questions can now be answered.

Climate change

Many nano-particles in the atmosphere play a role in explaining climate change. Compared to mass spec, our systems offer faster, less expensive and more portable characterization and quantification of such particles.

Emissions

Recent studies have shown that nano-particles (1-100nm) may represent health hazards, sparking strong interest in their surveillance and characterization. Vehicles, power generation, manufacturing, and government regulatory policy are potential beneficiaries of the superior resolution of DMA.

Waste water monitoring

Waste water samples may be important predictors of pathogen outbreaks. Sample volumes are large and PCR may be cost and time prohibitive. ES-DMA needs to be explored for viability as a low-cost, continuous flow testing method.
